At Rebuild Britain, we both come up with ideas and put them into action. The first new initiative we are piloting is supporting schools in relation to exploring British Values which their students. Further details on this initiative are below.
Every school in England is expected to explore 'Fundamental British Values' including the rule of law, democracy, individual liberty and mutual tolerance and respect for people of different faiths and beliefs. But while there are many examples of schools doing this really well, many teachers find this subject challenging. This is where the British Values Project comes in. We are piloting a new curriculum to be used in schools either by our team or by teachers we train. The curriculum covers:
The resources can be used with Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 students and can either be used for a half-term programme of six lessons or an off-timetable day focussed on Fundamental British Values; the materials can also be condensed into a shorter one or two lesson programme.
If your school, local authority, diocese or academy trust would be interested in trialing the new resources, please get in touch. To find out more, visit the British Values Project website.
